Congratulations on earning a spot on the yearbook staff! Please be aware that you will have an opportunity to prove that you are committed and proactive in the first week of school. If you do not prove yourself, you will be removed from the staff and placed in another class, as there is A LOT of work to be done and we have no time for slackers!
In order to hit the ground running, take lots of pictures this summer! Your first assignment in Journalism I will be to do a yearbook-style two page spread that covers an event you attend this summer or a place you visit this summer.
To get started you need to
1. Take LOTS of pictures of the place or event you plan to feature in your spread.
2. Take some notes! Your spread will include an article in to go with your photos. You are a journalist now, so think of what information you would include in a magazine spread about your topic. Write down names and any interesting things others said to use in your article. Also think about a fun title for your spread!
I look forward to meeting you at a staff barbecue, stay tuned for details...
