Taylor Yearbook Seminar Application

All members of the 2010 Yearbook Staff are invited to apply for the opportunity to attend our annual yearbook training camp trip, which takes place in June. This educational experience is a journalism training camp intended for high school yearbook staff students. On this trip we learn marketing strategies, graphic design techniques, the basics of good photography, how to conduct effective interviews, how to write captions and articles for yearbook, and much more. Basically we prepare for next year and have fun doing it!
For more details about the trip, click http://www.floridayearbookseminar.com/index.html.

If you are interested in coming along, you must submit the following:
1. A sample of your writing from an English class, signed by your teacher. (essays only, no poetry)
2. A one page, typed essay that answers: a. Your name, grade, and desired position on the staff next year; b. What specific skills you would like to acquire or improve at this training; c. What things you plan to do as part of the yearbook staff next year. BE SPECIFIC. "I want to take pictures" or "I'm a good writer" is too vague. Only people who intend to be leaders on next year's staff should apply to attend this training, so make clear how you plan to be a leader. The essay should be at least one page long, typed, double spaced, Times New Roman size 12, with borders no more than 1" around. Spelling and grammar will be a factor.

Applications are due Friday May 1, 2009 by 1p.m.
