Editor Application

The following leadership positions are available on the 2009-2010 Staff:

-Editor-in-Chief
-Managing Editor
-Computer Editor/Photo Editor
-Bookkeeper/Budget keeper
-Marketing Manager

Section Editors:
-Sports Editor
-Academics Editor
-Student Life Editor
-Clubs Editor
-Seniors Editor
-Ads Editor

You may apply for more than one position, or you may apply for the same position as someone else. The Editor-in-Chief position may be occupied by two people. The same person who is Marketing Manager should be the Ads Section Editor. You may choose any combination of positions that you feel are appropriate. Please discuss a combination with me before you apply. All students who plan to be in Journalism II or III next year are required to apply for a leadership position.

Applications are due Monday April 27, 2009. Please include:
1. TWO samples of your writing, signed by your English teacher. No poetry will be accepted. The samples must be essays, articles, or prose.
2. An essay application. You must explain to me why you are qualified for the position. The essay must be typed, two pages, Times New Roman, font size 12, double spaced, with one inch margins. It must include:
-Name, Grade, Position applying for
-Qualities of a good leader
-Your strengths
-Areas you need to improve
-Your plans/ideas for next year's staff and yearbook
-Extracurricular activities you plan to be involved in next school year
-Why you want to be an editor
3. A brief e-mail recommendation from a teacher.
